Architectural Design

We begin with an on-site walkthrough and a comprehensive analysis of how you and your family live and function in your home. Through a thorough discussion of your needs and desires, we will together define the desired scope for your home, whether it involves a material remodel, a full redesign, or an addition. The next step involves taking detailed measurements of the existing plans and analyzing local building codes. Once we understand the regulatory requirements, we begin to rearrange the architectural elements to find innovative solutions that may not be immediately apparent when walking through the spaces. By understanding dimensions and flow, we recreate the plans to adhere to modern standards of living, refining the layout in CAD until we achieve the optimal result. Typically, I present two to three revised floor plans, which we then hybridize to create the ideal layout for your family. Once the floor plan is finalized, we move to the interior elevations. At this stage, we determine the optimal size for each individual room, down to the dimensions of cabinet drawers, further refining the plans even further. After completing the plans and elevations, we can proceed to engineering, preliminary construction sets for bidding, and the City submittal set. In the interim, we will also move into interior selections and interior design.

Interior Design

The interior design phase is where we bring your personality and character into your space. My approach is to select timeless hard finishes like tile and cabinetry, and then introduce color and flair through soft textiles, which can be more easily updated as trends evolve. While I aim for a classic feel, I also love incorporating modern elements and vibrant colors.

This phase is divided into two parts: construction-related finishes and furniture/soft goods. To simplify this for clients, I start by creating mood boards that capture the overall feel of a room. From there, we refine the selections into detailed product schedules. By the end of this phase, you and your contractor will have comprehensive schedules for bidding and purchasing items such as tile, flooring, plumbing, lighting, paint, and wall materials.

A similar process is used for furniture, window treatments, and other soft goods. Depending on your needs, your contract can include either one or both of these services.

Construction Management

Finding the right contractor is often the most challenging part of a remodel. It's crucial to select someone who truly understands the unique aspects and priorities of your project.

My construction management services can help you with this process, starting with interviewing contractors, reviewing bids and budgets, and ultimately making the best contractor choice for your needs.

During construction, I am available throughout the entire process. We can establish regular meetings, such as weekly or bi-monthly, with the contractor to ensure the design is interpreted correctly, answer any questions, and address issues as they arise.

Whether you require full construction management or simply need me to be available for specific questions, I am happy to be a part of your project.
